Senior Session Spotlight | Caiden

If there’s one thing I hear from senior guys more than anything else, it’s this: “I really don’t like getting my picture taken.”

And honestly? I get it. Most guys would rather be doing literally anything else than standing in front of a camera. That’s exactly why I approach senior guy sessions a little differently—I keep things relaxed, efficient, and natural so it never feels awkward or drawn out. Caiden’s session was the perfect example of that. We started at the high school, capturing a few classic senior portraits in a place that already meant something to this season of his life. From there, we headed to beautiful Lake Carnico, where the scenery did most of the work for us. The water, the open space, and the laid-back atmosphere instantly helped him relax. One of the best parts? He brought his truck, which made the session feel even more like him. Having something familiar there helped take the pressure off and gave us some really natural, authentic moments. Of course, we also had to include what Caiden is best known for: basketball. He’ll be attending Midway University, where he’ll continue playing the sport he’s incredibly talented at. Getting to incorporate that into his session made everything feel even more personal and meaningful. By the end of the shoot, something funny always happens with senior guys—they realize it wasn’t nearly as bad as they thought. In fact, most of them end up saying it was actually pretty easy… and even kind of fun. That’s always the goal. Senior sessions don’t have to feel stiff or uncomfortable. With the right approach, they can be quick, relaxed, and still produce images that feel confident, natural, and true to who they are. Caiden’s session was exactly that—and I couldn’t be more excited for him as he heads into this next chapter at Midway.
